Nominated for Best Full Paper Award at LAK24

We are delighted to announce that not just one but two of our papers have been nominated for the Best Full Paper Award at the prestigious Learning Analytics and Knowledge Conference. Amongst a pool of 66 full research papers, our works have stood out for their significant contributions to the field of teamwork analytics.

Paper Title: Heterogenous Network Analytics of Small Group Teamwork: Using Multimodal Data to Uncover Individual Behavioral Engagement Strategies

Summary: Understanding student engagement in collaborative learning is vital for effective teamwork. Our research fills a gap by analysing engagement using multimodal data, including spatial locations and verbal communication strategies. Using advanced network analysis, we identified unique engagement patterns correlating with collaboration satisfaction and team performance. This study advances collaboration analytics and provides insights for personalised support in collaborative learning.

Paper Title: TeamSlides: a Multimodal Teamwork Analytics Dashboard for Teacher-guided Reflection in a Physical Learning Space

Summary: Our paper explores the development and utilisation of TeamSlides, a dashboard aimed at enhancing teacher-guided reflection on teamwork dynamics in educational settings. Through an extensive classroom study, we found that while TeamSlides effectively facilitated discussions and reflection, challenges arose in interpreting the data, highlighting the need for careful consideration in Multimodal Learning Analytics research.
